TOP INDIA TALKS

 Hello Connections,

I am excited to share with you my recent experience of interviewing Mr. Dattaprasad Kadam, President of Village Pavarwadi District-Satara, as part of the TOP INDIA TALKS initiative. During the interview, Mr. Kadam shared his inspiring journey from a government school student to an engineer and after that to the President of Village . with this he also shared his vision for rural development.

Here are some of the important points from our conversation:

1) Upon becoming the village president, Mr. Kadam noticed that many female ward members and other women in the village had discontinued their education due to various reasons. To address this, he initiated a program to complete their studies through open universities sponsored by the Gram Panchayat.

2) Mr. Kadam has also taken impressive steps towards child-friendly governance. He regularly conducts Bal Sabhas (assembly/meeting of children) in his village to understand the needs of children and involve them in the village's development process.

3) He is focused on making agriculture more self-sustainable with the goal of improving the income of farmers.

4) In the long term, he is concerned about the increasing rural-urban migration and the potential for ghost villages. Therefore, he is actively working to address this issue.
